Whether it’s getting married on top of Half Dome, or simply using the National Park for a “Trash the Dress” shoot, local photographers have been seeing an influx of nuptials parading around Yosemite’s beautiful landscapes.
And today, the internet is buzzing about the mystery couple that was photographed on the edge of Taft Point, high above Yosemite Valley. The photographer, Scott Poupis, happens to be a friend of Resource Travel, so he was kind enough to give us a little insight into the luck that went behind the capturing of this moment.
I had spent about 3 hours shooting at Taft point in Yosemite trying to capture the different lighting it had to offer. So many people love to stand out on the ledge and look over, so it makes for a beautiful shot. I had seen the couple shooting wedding photos earlier in other places and didn’t think much of it. Right around sunset, they just stepped out onto the first ledge and started posing. I knew it was a special moment and I would probobly never get photobombed this perfectly ever again. So I kept shooting and love the way the photos came out..
After initially publishing the story looking for the couple, we have come to find out that it was a wedding that was being photographed by Taylor McCutchan. We would love to share Taylor’s photos and story of this moment, and have reached out to him and let him know we will gladly update with his photos.
For the record, this is how Poupis spent his time waiting for the golden light, before he was happily photobombed by the newlyweds.
