It has been over a year since California-based photographer and filmmaker Justin Majeczky of Varient3 Productions visited the region surrounding Vail, Colorado with a mission. To document the upcoming winter season using three forms of video styles. The resulting film, “Winter Wonder” is a beautiful combination of time-lapse, slow motion and aerial footage that gives viewers a dramatic sense of the quickly changing landscapes in the White River National Forest.
Maybe even more impressive than the film is the fact that Majeczky had brought every piece of equipment as carry on, desperate to avoid the destruction that checked gear can lead too. In his Vimeo description, Majeczky talks about packing an Emotimo TB3, Sony FS700, and DJI Phantom 2 in two Lowepro backpacks.
Majeczky proves that high quality productions don’t need to come from crates of Pelican cases, but rather, just a couple pieces of reliable equipment coupled with a sense of adventure and a creative idea.
