October 1st, 2015 marked 125 years since Yosemite became a National Park. Only proceeded by Yellowstone and Sequoia, the act made Yosemite only the nation’s third National Park.
Originally, the new park consisted of land like Mariposa Grove, which surrounded the now infamous Yosemite Valley, which was still under California’s control. It wasn’t until 1906 when California transferred authority of Yosemite Valley to the federal government, creating the National Park that we know today.
There is no doubt that Yosemite is one of the most popular National Parks in the country, and for good reason. This collection of images pays respect to the history of the park, it’s incredible beauty, the people who work tirelessly to preserve it’s long legacy. Thank you!
