17-year Northern California-based photographer Taylor Gray is no stranger to fans of landscape and nature photography. Even at such a young age, Gray has been putting in long days and nights in some of the United States’ most visually appealing locations to satisfy his ever growing passion for photography. In order to avoid the crowds at Yosemite National Park’s famed Firefall, Gray even went off the beaten track to find a location not many shoot the phenomenon from.
With the talent and drive that Gray possesses, it was only a matter of time before he would expand on his already impressive photography portfolio. ‘Awakening’, Gray’s first time-lapse film, is an impressive first entry into the crowded time-lapse arena. Still in high school, the majority of footage had to be collected during his summer break. For days at a time, Gray would venture to the high peaks of the Colorado Rockies and the steamy geysers in Yellowstone National Park to capture his clean and compelling footage. Over 20,000 photos of colorful sunsets, sudden rainstorms, a bright Milky Way, and powerful lightning storms combine for an impressive six-minute journey that left us wanting more. Luckily for us, the young and passionate Gray won’t rest for long before creating another mesmerizing tour through the nature that he loves.
