Eddie Hunter has lived his entire 89-year life under the shadow of the imposing Mt. Norquay in Banff National Park. Banff’s first ski resort opened on the mountain over 80 years, and Hunter has been skiing the pristine powdery slopes since he was a child.
“Sculpted in Time: The Wise Man” by Sherpa Cinema tells the story of Hunter’s connection to the mountain and how his love for the mountains and Banff National Park has been passed onto his children, who followed in their father’s footsteps and became avid skiers.
The film is a touching look at a man in his “Piano Year” and watching him tackle the mountain is inspiring. The film is visually beautiful and includes one of the most dramatic aerial scenes I have ever seen.
This is the first of a four-part series that Sherpa Cinema developed for Ski Banff National Park and Sunshine Village and Travel Alberta, and with winter approaching, you will be sure we will be sharing all of them.
