Photographer and filmmaker Nicolaus Wegner has released his third installment in his acclaimed Stormscapes series, and it is some of the most impressive and nailbiting storm footage we have seen. Shot almost entirely in the Northern Plains of the United States, Wegner takes us for a wild ride as severe storms filled with lightning and supercells give way to rainbows and sunshine. The footage at times is so intense, Wegner even had to issue a warning on his Vimeo description.
If you suffer from any negative photosensitive reactions to strobing or flashing lights, it might be advisable to skip the night focused lightning sequences of Stormscapes 3. They are…intense…welcome to mother nature’s dance party (it’s even crazier in person). The last two minutes are almost nothing but lightning sequences. Stop watching immediately if it becomes too much for you.
After staring in amazement for the six-minute hard hitting storm sequences, it’s easy to see why Wegner issued that warning…and why the northern plains is one of the most impressive regions for storm chasing photographers.
