Encompassing more than 340 square miles, Voyageurs National Park is a watery wonderland almost exclusively accessible by boat. It lies within the heart of the North American continent, in northern Minnesota near the town of International Falls, and it’s home to some of this continent’s most pristine landscapes and lakes, currently erupting with kaleidoscopic fall colors. It’s also where you can find some of the most spectacular displays of the northern lights on the planet.

Three adventurers from More Than Just Parks recently went on a 14-day trip through the park, carrying along a Sony a7R II, a Canon 5D Mark III and a Blackmagic URSA Mini 4.6K. Over a total distance of more than 100 miles, the crew captured more than 20,000 photos (or 2.5TB of data), and eventually ended up with their most epic film yet.

Our journey started on the southeast section of the park accessed through Crane Lake. From there we hiked, camped, backpacked, and boated all around the park – through Sand Point Lake, Namakan Lake, Ash River, Kabetogama Lake, and eventually making it out on the northwest section of the park on Rainy Lake.

The film was made possible by the wonderful folks at the Voyageurs National Park Association, who work every day to maintain this park as one of America’s most precious national treasures. Feel free to check out their website, where you’ll find plenty ways to donate any dollar you can spare. Also check out More Than Just Parks’s Vimeo-page (or website), with a lot more of high resolution epicness.
