More than 9,000 miles from the United States lies the Rainbow nation, the name given to the homeland of the Nelson Mandela, Cape Town, and lions. The country of South Africa has always been popular among travelers, but there is prehaps no better time to visit than now. I have always had a fascination with lions, maybe it’s because I grew up watching “Thunder Cats.” There is a certain majestic feeling when you think of the open plains of Africa. It used to be one would go to East Africa for a safari like in “Green Hills of Africa” by Earnest Hemingway’s. That has since changed mainly because of the unstable governments in those areas. South Africa has taken advantage and provides a safe environment for tourist.
Tyler Fairbank visited South Africa recently and spent part of his time on a Safari Expedition. His film covers this part of Rainbow Nation through Timelapses and Hyperlapses, showing us a new way to see this part of the world. He was able to capture the “big five” lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, rhino in his time-lapse and showed how diverse landscape is there.
“This was my first trip to anywhere in the continent and it was eye opening. There are few things more thrilling than being woken up at 5:30 am to the sounds of lions outside your tent.”
The sites and sounds in South Africa are eye opening and Tyler does a great job bringing us along for the adventure.
